NEVER LEAVE LIGHTED CANDLES UNATTENDED
When candles are lit they should never be left unattended to avoid the risk of fire.
BE CAREFUL OF CHILDREN AND ANIMALS
Keep lit candles out of the reach of children and pets: they could inadvertently approach the flame and burn themselves or drop the candle on flammable surfaces.
BE CAREFUL WITH POTENTIALLY FLAMMABLE OBJECTS
Never place your lit candle near flammable objects such as curtains, carpets, tablecloths, paper. Also remember that the candle flame must maintain a distance of at least 30 cm from the surface above.
HOW LONG TO KEEP THE CANDLE LIT
The candle should be left lit at least long enough for the top layer to melt completely so as to avoid the formation of a central crater. To prevent the flame from becoming too high and the wick from slipping sideways into the melted wax, it is best not to keep the candle lit for more than 3 consecutive hours.
PLACE THE CANDLE ON SAFE SURFACES
Always place the candle on a stable surface that is resistant to high temperatures. Avoid lighting it over heat sources such as fireplaces, radiators and appliances. Our jar candles come with a cork that can be placed under the jar to protect the surface underneath.
WHAT LENGTH SHOULD THE WICK BE?
Before lighting the candle, make sure the wick is not too long to avoid generating a dangerously high flame and releasing smoke. The ideal length of the wick is about 3-6mm.
DO NOT LIGHT THE CANDLE NEAR A DRAFT OF AIR
The presence of wind or drafts could cause the candle to burn unevenly or cause dangerous accidents such as the flame flaring up and objects falling into the fire.
DO NOT INSERT ANY OBJECTS INTO THE CANDLE
Do not insert flammable objects into the lit candle or into the melted wax as they may catch fire. The grape marc candle is designed to melt only in the central purple part. By respecting the lighting times of a maximum of 3 consecutive hours, the inside of the candle will burn evenly leaving a scenic wall of grape marc and wax on the outside. If grape marc should inadvertently slip into the central liquid part, extinguish the candle and remove the grape marc residues with tweezers to avoid creating smoke. Once the candle has re-solidified you can light it again.
DO NOT KEEP TWO CANDLES TOO CLOSE TOGETHER
We often light multiple candles at the same time to create beautiful arrangements. Always remember to keep a safe distance of at least 10 cm between candles.
HOW TO BLOW OUT A CANDLE
Do not blow! This could cause dangerous wax splashes. You can put out the candle by smothering the flame: without oxygen the candle will quickly go out. The ideal method would be to dip the wick into the liquid wax using the tip of scissors or tweezers and then return it to a vertical position. This way, no fumes are generated and the wick remains well waxed and ready for the next lighting.
MOVE THE CANDLE ONLY WHEN IT IS OUT
Never move a candle when it is lit as melted wax may drip or spill causing burns or damage to objects. When you blow out a candle, always wait a moment before moving it so that the wax has time to solidify.
